The Confidence Wound Behind Your Next Big Professional Move
On September 17th 2026 Chiron retrogrades back into Aries, returning to the sign it has been moving through since 2018. It is usually described as the “wounded healer”, and in a birth chart shows you where you face repeated challenges to overcome until you heal the wound.
It points towards the places where we can feel particularly vulnerable. When we learn how to work with those vulnerabilities, we can develop a much deeper sense of self-trust. As Chiron moves back into Aries this theme gets personal, touching our sense of self. You may find yourself with doubts rooted in the following themes:
Who am I?
Can I trust myself?
Am I allowed to go first?
Can I take up space without needing everyone to approve?
When your confidence gets tested you might:
Be highly capable but still hesitate to put yourself forward.
Know you're ready for the promotion, but worry about whether you're really qualified.
Have the business idea, but keep refining it instead of launching.
Want to become more visible, but suddenly feel exposed when people start paying attention.
Know what you want, until you're asked to actually claim it.
These are examples of where Chiron in Aries can be uncomfortable. It can resurface old stories around confidence, rejection, independence and being “too much”. Try not to endlessly analyse your insecurities, especially with the Sun in Virgo right now. Instead, try to notice where an old fear is still making decisions for you.
You don't have to feel confident first
It's like you already are ready for the promotion, the business launch or the next level, but your inner voice is giving you doubts, raising questions like; “What if I'm not qualified enough?” “What if this doesn't work?” “Who am I to put myself out there like this?”
Any of these sounding familiar? Chiron in Aries can bring these old confidence wounds back into focus, particularly around visibility, independence and trusting yourself to go first. But you don't build confidence by waiting until the fear disappears. Remember that saying, "feel the fear and do it anyway"? This is the energy you need to channel while Chiron is in Aries. You build your confidence by taking the next step and discovering that you can handle what comes with it.
Speak up. Get the idea out there. Ask for what you want. When you take the risk, you realise that someone else's response doesn't determine your worth, and uncertainty doesn't mean you've made the wrong decision. You don't need all the answers mapped out. What you do need is the self-trust, to know that you will be able to handle whatever happens next.
As Chiron moves back through Aries, use this period to identify where an old story about yourself might still be deciding what you do today. Here are some journal prompts you can reflect on:
Where am I still waiting for permission?
What am I afraid people will think if I become more visible?
Where am I making myself smaller to feel safe or avoid rejection?
What would I do differently if I trusted myself to handle the rejection or uncertainty?
Your next level doesn't require a new personality
You don't need to become louder, more confident or more fearless to move forward. It might just be as simple as to stop allowing an old wound to define what you're capable of. Trust yourself, you've got this!
